Among the communities and projects that the Canadian government supported are Tlicho all-season road construction ($6.3 million), Inuvik Wind Generation Phase 3 ($4.8 million), NWT fibre optic cable construction ($4.6 million), Fort Simpson harbour expansion ($2.5 million), Norman Wells airport upgrades ($2.2 million), Tuktoyaktuk community access road upgrades ($1.8 million), Jean Marie River bridge replacement ($1.5 million), Tulita airport upgrades ($1.5 million), Wrigley community access road upgrades ($500,000), and Hay River harbour upgrades ($250,000).
Thanks to the Canadian government's strategic planning and budget allocation for producing funds for the Northwest Territories through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF), which helps communities prepare for the impacts of climate change, such as building flood protection infrastructure, upgrading water and sewage systems, and improving drainage. They also support community planning and capacity building and encourage innovation across Canada.
The Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream, also known as CCRIS, is a funding program that aims to support the development of community culture and recreation infrastructure projects to enhance the quality of life for Canadians.
